I talked to 2 black co-workers about the riots/BLM

Cliffs from conversation:
- They think that there is too much generalizing of the police force/protesters as a whole
- The riots/looting is ridiculous and isn't helping anyone. Especially when it happens to black-owned businesses
- BLM as a whole likes to ignore black on black crime, one said he trusts people based on character and not on skin color
- Saying "All Lives matter" isn't racist (was told this was racist to say this from a white friend) but that it is a lazy response to BLM and kinda deflects from what BLMs message is (I agree). Someone mentioned that a better rebuttal is "All black lives matter"
- One co-worker actually said he doesn't understand why the "n-word" is taboo as long as it has the "a" at the end (I told him there's no way I'm saying that word especially in front of a black person)
- Spoke about the shaming you receive as a black person from your own community if you don't fully support BLM/think the same way as every other black person.
-I spoke up and said that police brutality isn't the biggest issue and that the removal of a strong father figure is. The over incarceration of black men has destroyed those communities/families and I think that is where you would see a reduction in black on black crime and an overall improvement for the black community. I think legalizing weed would go a long way in keeping black men out of jail and stop this cycle of incarceration.
Rally good guys and I'm glad we had this conversation. They were very open to discussion and I appreciated their opinions. Just thought I'd share.

Exactly what I was thinking. No way I’m talking to black co workers about anything to do with race while at work. Hell even out of work is iffy.

Why do people think legalizing marijuana is some panacea that will create unicorns and rainbows? Our prisons are not full of people there for weed. Marijuana is NOT the reason the black community is so dysfunctional.
