That doesn't come from school. It comes from home, as it always has.

Wife is a teacher in her 3rd year. Pretty much every negative stereotype is no stereotype, it's all true. It all boils down to money. Administrators won't discipline or stand up to parents because it adversely affects their pay/bonuses/numbers with district personnel. District wants good numbers to get federal money.

Eliminate the Dept of Education and restrict state education depts with limits. Give money to as equally as can be to local school governing bodies and allow the majority of the power to reside with them. Education would improve. The only thing you need each state to do is set the standards and manage records. And since each state would get money based on state population with factors such as poverty/average income and adjusted each year for inflation, there would be no reason to fudge numbers.

Imagine states competing for citizens to live there and put your kids in their schools.

I don't respect them. Too many of them have absolutely no common sense. My 7th grade son just had an assignment to "create an authentic Italian dish" and a power point presentation on their culture. They've never been taught power point nor how to cook an authentic foreign meal of any type.

He couldn't cook anything like pizza, or lasagna, or spaghetti. Nothing "Americanized".

the good news for him was that he didn't get one of the hard ones such as a country that didn't even exist 20 years ago.

Teach students how to code, and they teach themselves.

I'm not saying he can't do power point. My son is smart and he has two parents with a lot of power point experience. But there are a lot of poor kids and less intelligent kids who don't know how to do power point or self teach themselves and many who don't have computers.

Keep in mind, the cooking and the power point or just a couple of examples. I could list 30 examples for just that teacher having no common sense.

Maybe the teacher is giving them time in the computer lab to make them or he/she is giving them an alternate way to provide the recipe.

bottom line appears to be , college and the home

but when I went to school, people went to college and had homes too and there was no obsession with racism then [ 60's-70's ]

somethin's missin
