I had to replace our water heater back during all the Covid mess. I couldn't find one in stock without bluetooth. The leak detection on it is a nice feature......assuming it will actually work if/when a leak happens. I have no use whatsoever for the control panel that looks like it could launch a missile, nor did I need to connect my phone to it. Well, I had to download their app to register it, but deleted it after that was done.

Though, if I were to pick only one feature it would be lane keep assist or lane centering with adaptive cruise control. 12 hour drive with that vs normal cruise is night and day.

A friend of mine has a new Tundra. He was driving it through some 24" - 30" tall grass in a field. The damn truck kept stopping, thinking he was about to hit something. Then he would have to stop and start engine for it to reset then he could go about 20' and it would do it again.

He carried it to the dealer and made them turn that off, also the engine stopping at red lights and a few other things.

I wish they would just make one that did the simple things like AC power windows and locks etc, but the only way to get that would be to buy a 70's or 80's and put a bunch of money into it. But it would probably last longer than the new stuff.

I suspect all that shite is to give a back door for the government to spy on you. Granted, cell phones already do that, but the more overlapping forms of spytools available, the easier it is to form a complete picture.

Honestly, my favorite thing about my car is the hands freeness of it. I walk up to my car and it unlocks itself when I touch the handle,

I have a button on the handle, but same thing. I forgot to include that.

Sorry but this shite is annoying as hell. I'm fine with a warning sound, but autocorrecting while I'm driving doesn't work for me.
I have to turn that shite off every time I get in my wife's car.

That being said, I could see how that could be handy on long drives.

My wife's MDX has ACC and we just did a long drive and I hate it. It's a 2019, so it may be better now, but when the interstate curves it senses a car in front of me if they're in the left lane and slams on the breaks. It also can't judge 18-wheelers well depth-wise.

Software has the same issue. I still use the 2007 edition of Office. I believe it takes up about 400 MB total on disk. Runs fast, clean ui. Does everything most people need.

Modern office suite is like 4 GB or something, grown by a factor of nearly 10. Runs slower, the actual useful features drowning in garbage like AI and locked behind near mandatory online services integration.

- adaptive cruise control

What is the advantage of using this feature? I find it to be a pain in the arse. Is it supposed to solve some problem?

Slows you down a bit when some jackass pulls in front of you so you don't have to turn off cruise. That's about it
