I picked a helluva time to quit drinking, but I’ve been sober for almost a year!

To anyone who’s trying- KEEP TRYING! People keep telling me I look at least 10 years younger. I get more done in a day than I used to in a week (maybe a month). I lost 20 pounds without trying. I don’t panic when someone in my house is looking for something because I’m afraid they will find a bottle I stashed. I feel amazing, and one year ago I truly thought I would die if I couldn’t have a drink.

Good job man. BURN this feeling into your brain because the bad days will come. Don't think they won't, it's part of life and what makes the good days special. Just remember days like today and hold onto that.

Congratulations to you! That is awesome. It’s been 14 months for me, and life is so much better.

I am trying not to get over confident, because I know how it can sneak up. But some really bad things (besides normal awful 2020 things) have happened to me this year and I still made it. Some days I was just hanging on until a decent hour to take a benadryl and go to bed, which may not be perfect, but it’s another day away from the addiction, right? Most days now I’m just fine!

When those days start outnumbering the bad ones, and the bad days don't really phase you, you know you're on the right track.

One day at a time baw.

7/20/16 for me

I didn't have a drinking problem, I had a stopping problem.

Stole money from my kids piggy banks that I gave them for good grades, create new credit cards that only I knew about so I could buy alcohol without my wife knowing about it, I was a fricking monster and a lying piece of shite to my entire family and everybody in my life. Burned a bunch of bridges, lost a job, I'm the luckiest man alive that my wife stick by my side and dropped my arse off at the PaRC in Houston.

Saved my life.

Yeah, when I think of some of the things I did for it ... I’m lucky to be alive and incredibly lucky to still have a family.

If Biden’s wins you might end up moving to drugs.

Congrats! A huge accomplishment, but definitely in 2020. You should be very proud of yourself. Keep it up!

I'll never understand why people are happy to quit drinking. It's a good way to pass the time.

Congratulations, man. I'm right behind you (12/19). It definitely felt like the wrong time to quit last spring but glad you stuck through it.
