Numismatists, Unite!
But seriously, I love old and ancient coins. It's a hobby of mine I wish I had more time to explore.
Roman coins are interesting, especially if you get into how they and older ones were cast, cut, etc. No two coins will ever be identical due to the manual processes.

Man, that’s pretty damn neat! I am suprised that they allow them to be sold internationally.

5 dollars seems strangely reasonable for an ancient coin.
Can’t remember which coin I studied last semester in history 101 but some were incredibly mass produced and are still in great supply, therefore cheap.

I have a Dutch coin commemorating the 1588 defeat of the Spanish Armada.

I have a coin from 1832 that was used to cover my great (not sure how many great) grandmothers eyes.
Somehow my grandmother ended up with one of the 2 that was used to cover her eyes.

Some great responses in there.
You never said how you “found” it either. Which means you probably stole it.

I take umbrage at that completely false statement. I wouldn't even know WHERE to steal a circa 350 coin if I WAS that sort of person. Which I am decidedly not.
I literally found it in a pile of change. Which probably means it was in someone else's change and got mistaken for an old penny.

I have one that a plant operator in France gave me when I was working over there. He goes around with a metal detector and finds them. It is in rough shape, but enough detail is their to definitely id as Roman.

Had no idea such a website existed. Thanks for sharing. I also am fascinated by ancient history, especially the Roman empire. Pickup up a coin myself.

I’ve seen ads in the back of Biblical Archaeology Review magazine with all sorts of interesting (supposedly) ancient and medieval artifacts like coins and jewelry. The prices are low enough to make me skeptical.
