Then why did the cartel assassinate him if the famous plane pic with Pablo come out after?

It's either Randy Jackson or Stephanie Clifford.

I've got to go with Steven Soderbergh.

Is there a particular book you recommend to get the real scoop?

I don't know if it's "the real scoop", but that FBI guy's book was good. Smugglers End.
However, it shoots holes in almost all of the CIA stuff and doesn't portray Barry as a hero. More of a personable bullshite artist. He also says Barry's partner actually did most of the flying, maybe 25 or 30 flights, compared to about 10 for Barry.

You really think they wouldn't have other ways to find out he was working against them?

And wasn't Pablo paranoid as frick at that point? I would imagine any inkling he had that someone was betraying him and they were dead.

In Pablo’s case paranoid might be seen as justifiably vigilant.

What about the E guarantee? He dogged John Brady and his restaurant, after all.

Every A&M grad wants a nice job, a cute wife, and a few men on the side.

Polozola is legitimately right there...despite the Seal case.

I cannot believe the OP thinks a guy who was around when Pancho's and Calendar's were big restaurants can be a large figure in BR. He didn't even live to see but one season of Tommy Hodson.

At the hearing, Robert Joura, a 16-year veteran of the DEA, told the judge, ``I have worked with a lot of informants over my career (but) I have never met someone who had as much potential or produced as much as Seal did.`` Not everyone, however, thought so highly of Seal. When he came before U.S. District Judge Frank J. Polozola of Baton Rouge on Dec. 20 to be sentenced after pleading guilty to conspiring to possess cocaine, he and his attorneys expected the same treatment they received from Roettger.

Instead, Polozola said, ``I don`t see a single, solitary reason why anybody should make Seal a special individual . . . I don`t see any reason for coddling him. In my opinion, people like you ought to be in prison.``

On Jan. 24, Polozola fined Seal $35,000 and placed him on five years`

probation. During that time, he had to carry a paging device at all times so probation officials could reach him, and he could not leave the Baton Rouge area.

The final restriction: Seal had to spend every night for the next six months at a Salvation Army halfway house.

On Feb. 19, Seal drove into the halfway house parking lot. Three men standing near a dumpster walked up to his car and shot him 11 times.

Four Colombians have been charged with conspiracy and murder in Seal`s slaying.

Polozola has refused to comment on the case.

Truth. He had a house in Galvez off of Summerfield with a private airfield (which is still there).

Actually that was his whorehouse off Summerfield. Family member of mine has owned that property for a while now.
