why would anyone assume this?

And who are "People like me"?

Those that try to self diagnose a respiratory illness without an actual positive diagnostic test.

You wanna know about some other respiratory viruses that could have similar symptoms....here is a list for you of a few:

RSV
parainfluenza 1
parainfluenza 2
parainfluenza 3
parainfluenza 4
rhinovirus
coronavirus (the 4 non COVID-19 ones that were around before COVID-19)
influenza A
influenza B
adenovirus
pertussis
metapneumovirus

So out of alllllll of those respiratory viruses that circulate during respiratory season(and can have similar symptoms).....you are deadset on that you actually had COVID-19?

Do adults get RSV? My kids had it when they were young, but i've never known an adult to get it.

Never heard of the parainfluenzas.
Rhinovirus, isn't that your common cold?
I've heard of the other CV's, what makes 19 different?
Don't think it was either of the flu's. The flu knocks me on my arse.
Don't know about the other 3.

Well, if you see my dialogue with Salmon, i'm not deadset. Again, i'm fairly sure i had it, just based on the symptoms, the timing, etc... I'm also a very healthy person. While possible, i don't think it would be likely that i catch any of the others. Again, i don't know much about some of the other ones you posted. I don't know how they spread, symptoms, affects on a healthy person, etc...

What i do find coincidental, if that makes you feel better, is that my symptoms seem identical with what everyone i know that has had CV19, had. And considering CV only was ANNOUNCED a month later, then i'll gather those clues and make an assumption. Now if i had one of the others you stated, and still had identical symptoms as the other viruses, well i'd say that's strange. How common are those viruses you listed, for a healthy late 30's male?

Are you this dumb? You think a virus just magically skips over you cause you are older.

Yes anyone can get RSV. Adults typically aren’t tested for RSV so they don’t know they have it. RSV looks like a cold with a long annoying cough afterwards in adults. In babies and young kids it can cause serious issues cause the virus tends to increase mucus production which makes it harder for little ones to breath. Although....there is a new test out that tests for RSV/COVID/Flu A&B that our hospital is using

I think people develop immunities to certain viruses based on having it before. For being a nurse that "deals with infectious diseases" you aren't aware of this?

You see, when you stop losing your shite, you can come off as knowing things. Now i posted a lot more than just RSV. Care to touch on those comments as well?

Idk but the nurses definitely need to make more dancing tiktok videos at work showcasing the vaccine.

I think that would definitely help others want to take the vaccine!

I may take Moderna's if available. My limited research makes me think it may be better. For me.

I am a male. Yep MAGA 100%. Retired military. Nope, didn't put this on Facebook. Good Lord. TikTok nurses are stupid and embarassing. Masks are useless unless it is an N-95. My ears are sore, only wear them at work. MD's are under lots of pressure to conform, more so than us. They will get the vaccine. Became an RN instead of MD due to being OT poor. But I am happy.

Alright there Focker. First of all, TYFYS. I'm sure you've heard it before but many times nurses are the true care givers while doctors shuffle papers and write checks for their massive student loans... especially true for general/family medicine. Both my kids are NICU "miracle babies" and those were the only times where I've seen doctors' skills be vastly better than the nurses. And even then NICU nurses took on the added role of support/mental therapist for the parents. So while people may give you shite, it sounds like you took the road many males should choose if they care about helping people while living a life no less considerable than many doctors. It sounds like you've got that figured out.

I do have several co-morbidities but have been totally disabled for 16 years so my exposure to the outside world is a controlled as it can be with a wife (thankfully an exec who can limit interactions at work) and two teenagers (remote learning.)

There's no way I'm going to put my chips on a vaccine that can spoil if it warms up in transit, needs the local idiots to get the dilution just right, and a company shopping viles with "extra doses". I was on the fence between the two vaccines until the logistics from lab => arm came out. Definitely going with the Moderna vaccine even if it means we have to continue our precautions for a few more months.

No. Everything else is just pure speculation on your part and I'm illustrating why that speculation is absurd

Whats sad is that you want to argue that you had COVID before everyone else simply because it makes you feel special

Many of those are viruses the only care/treatment is supportive so no reason to test most adults for.

All of those I listed are part of a respiratory pathogen panel (which is a single swab test) that is commonly ordered on pediatric patients in the hospital (but not always at a clinic).

Sir thank you for your kind words, they are truly appreciated. The discourse in this thread has gotten out of control, especially since my intent was being light-hearted and expecting jokes and fun. Your post was a much needed, for me at least, break in the diatribe. I even caught myself dipping a toe into it and am not proud of it. I pray for you with your health issues and that my Lord would send you healing grace and comfort. Again thank you.

Well i did see the dr. when i had what i believe was Covid, but what others disagree with just so they can argue (Salmon). Don't think i had a swab though. I usually get the same Acute Rhinitus every year around this time (haven't had it this year) so i assumed it was the same. Dr. gave me a nose spray, z pack, and a decongestant.
