You just need to re-kindle your love of the festivities associated with the fireworks holidays.
May I suggest the dry ice/water bottle combination? It is pretty damned fun.

I don't know, but I can tell you this: you're one of a very small group of TD posters who can both spell "curmudgeon" and use it properly in a sentence.
I started my day off on a good note by opening this thread!

I like them but I have an old dog that has gotten more scared of loud noises the older she gets. We have to sedate her for New Years and the 4th.

Find a local firework store or stand. One that is family owned and operated.
The prices will be cheaper, the people nicer and a lot cleaner. They also give away free stuff.
Most firework places are owned by people out of state that hire a local kid or group to run them. They usually only care about the money.

If I have to choose between fireworks and boomboxes I'll take the fireworks. I live about 200 feet off the road and when one of the locals with those loud arse boxes comes by, damn near every window in my house rattles.

I live in Bucktown and if anyone knows anything about Bucktown are the fireworks on New Year's Eve. I am talking major Disney Land stuff. The guy that lives behind said that he spends 3 grand. He gets his stuff from Alabama. There are about 5 different guys that set off stuff from sundown till about 2 in the morning. Last year my property was covered with the spent paper and my roof as well. The wind was blowing in my direction.

Watching a fireworks show put on by pros: awesome
Buying your own fireworks in a tent: trashy
