Was her insurance terminated by Amazon? Or by the provider. My company pays part of my premium, but other than that I doubt they even pay attention except during enrollment. Seems like a lot of these things are not really amazon''s issue.

Clearly the woman went through a difficult time during those 5 months, but Amazon seemed content with continuing her employment--which seems quite fair. I don't see the issue after that. She admits that she was in an emerging market of sorts so she had to expect a lot to change in 5 months. She made it seem like she had no contof tight work at all either. Besides what if the woman who had assumed her duties was doing an awesome job? Do we demote her? That seems just as, if not more, "unfair" and an even worse business policy.
By the way, it seems odd that the major detail of an article that is insinuating the misogynistic power structure of Amazon is that she was essentially replaced by another woman.

Just FYI, in the state of California you are entitled to 6 months off post delivery with job protection. I am pregnant with baby number 2 here.

Do you know that America has amongst the worst maternity and paternity benefits in the entire world? You don't think putting her on some kind of Performance Improvement Plan right after she came back from maternity leave is fricked up? In any case the responses in this thread are typical of the OT - a bunch of early 20s single bigoted guys who still think like this is the 50s in all ways (race, gender, sexual orientation etc.) and have no idea how difficult it is for parents, especially women, when they have their first child. I bet 10 years from now, when you have matured some, you will feel differently.
