son is has been a truck driver for the last 12 years. He has told me that no amount of money can tempt him to drive North of North Carolina due to congestion. Northern Virginia, Philadelphia, Boston and New York City are the worst. Now e has a dedicated route along I 10 and I 20 and occasionally gets on a California to Dallas to Houston to Florida route.

I used to run two trips a week to Dallas from Bham. Out Monday, back Tuesday. Out Wednesday, back Thursday. All drop and hook. Three day weekend and do it again. We were paid by the hour and not mileage. OT after 40 and worked (logged) 14 hours a day. Sweet gig until we got the log boxes which pushed you into the fifth day. I went back to local after that.

You ever done any border crossings? Like, for example, Laredo?
Just curious how much of a pain in the arse it is.

No but i went to El Paso and everywhere south all the way to Brownsville. Going toward these places, the border patrol doesn't stop/check you but heading back east from the border, the Border check points at part of the interstates. You have to go through them and they loaded with mechanical surveillance, cams etc. The lines are designated for cars and 2 lines for semi trucks. They already know what you have because they scanned you or scanned your bol through the technology they have. When you pull up , dogs walk the length of the semi/trailer and the agents are using mirrors. They are using Belgium malionas(sp) dogs and they are antsy. The agent will ask you 3 things.
Are you American
Are you alone(is anyone in the sleeper)
What's in your cargo. (They already know) they wanna see what you will say
I guess.
I haven't crossed but I pick up loads in Weslaco Texas and they are literally 5 minutes walking to Rio Grande. The security gate keeper(is Mexican)for that said manufacturing company and says the illegals walk right along their fence on the outside and come in. Every time I go there , the have a pad lock on back door of a loaded trailer. When I'm ready to leave. They cut that padlock off, check the cargo again with their eyes and close the door and place another lock on it. They don't even trust their workers. I have to take pictures of the new lock number on it and send it to corporate. They checking their cargo for illegals I guess and make sure they sent you away with cargo intact and only cargo. No other manufacturer does this for me.

Is it pronounced “sem ee” or “sem eye”?

Seen a prostitute once right inside a Wendy's connected to a Love's in Houston on i45 about 10 minutes south of north beltway 8(sam houston toll). She had a make up mirror on the table and putting on make up. It was just really weird. I've been pretty much everywhere I've stated and I've never seen hookers anywhere at the truck stops I've been too much less soliciting. Tbh 99 percent of the truckers don't have time for that. I'd have to say about a third of the truckers have their women with them.

In a past life I repped for a 3PL. Don't hold it against me, please.
I sent some guys to pick up fly ash in Nuevo Laredo and haul it across the other border somewhere near Detroit.
Those motherfrickers in "new" Laredo couldn't load to save their lives. Supersacks of fly ash, how hard is it to not overload directly over axles?
