Haven't proven they exist. Lots of compelling evidence, but you can't always trust everyone that documents "evidence." I'll tell you that I believe, but I can't prove their existence to you, nor would I try. I find that most people that do believe, if not all are spiritual or religious. I don't know if that means anything, it's just something I've noticed.

Maintaining contact with just one super natural being like a ghost would be a ground-breaking scientific discovery.

Yet, no legit endeavor has been successful in doing so. Not even in heavily populated areas where there would be wayyyy more ghosts. But your brother in law was in a creepy arse hunting cabin and saw one. Strange.

What do ghosts have against normal business hours?

Best chance of catching them is the witching hour. 2-3 AM.

Is that standard time or DST?

Try to wrap your head around current theoretical physics and even some applied physics: ghosts are a lot more believable. Per cutting edge science, we don't know shite about objective reality and likely are not able to.
Are ghosts the spirits of dead people? Don't know, but I am also not so narrow minded and ignorant as to believe I know they definitely aren't

Well I guess you get to make assumptions but require proof from others.

Anyways the premise of this thread is silly. Ghosts are the beings associated with the supernatural. If anyone could explain it, it wouldn’t be supernatural. So the fact that they are unexplainable, and rely on personal accounts for legitimacy, is the whole point.

Not really sure, and the time varies depending on the source. I believe it though. At my old house, I had a roommate, and in a short span of time, we were both woken up around the same time a few nights. All around 2:30 in the morning. We didn't realize it until it came up while we were talking about him being woken up by what he said was an electric zapping noise. Said he saw a ghost that night. Had a few things happen in that house that I couldn't explain over a couple of years...

This is identical to the time I saw my paw paw.

I don’t care if you respect me or not. There was a time I didn’t believe in ghosts either.
Then I went to work night shift in hospital,I had about a dozen experiences for which there was no other explanations.

What prevents your ghost paw paw from accidentally watching you while you masturbate?

Probably less about the hour and more about conditions being right for people to pay attention to things they’re otherwise not noticing. Noise, movement, etc. The world is pretty still and silent at 3am baw.

And this is why I don't respect people who think they have all the answers.

OP, you sound like someone who "trusts the science."

Which is why I post TLDR when I see a thread on ghost.

Wouldn’t it be easier just to not even open the thread to begin with. Oh yeah, that’s because you are doing it to be contrarian and garner attention.
And yes, I’m doing the same thing here….but at least I’m honest about being an a-hole.

What is a ghost anyway, physically speaking? Why can't real scientific institutions prove they exist, but cornballs on TV can?

What's the physics behind it? Are they bound by gravity? What about animals?

I'm a scientist by training. Go read the book Flatland by Edwin Abbot and get back to me.

What do they have against sane people?

Why do they scare dumb people and make bumps in the night, but don’t launch missiles, take selfies, or (insert any objectively documented action)?

Occam’s razor suggests it’s because they only exist in the mind of believers.

You shouldn’t.
That’s like believing in Santa Claus.
