Mountain trails are for vapid 'intellectuals' who fill voids left by their shitty parents by hiking 6 miles up trails to look over a majestic landscape in a contrived moment of introspect. You leave feeling just as empty as before. Then you drive back to your urban apartment in Boulder or Salt Lake City and eat sushi with chop sticks to "embrace the adversity".

You watch your mouth, woman.

Happy New Year. Hope you're doing well.

On topic...I prefer the mountains but the beach is fine for those who like it.

OP, quit being a sniveling bitch.

Tough to beat drinking a cold beer in a hot tub with snow capped mountains in the background and hot chicks in bikinis in the hot tub with you.

Agreed. Beaches are ignorant. I’d rather go tube the frio or watch my kids play in a stream in the smoky mountains than deal with sand.

When people are at home they don't say "hey, let's turn off the air conditioning, sit in a sauna, shine heat lamps in our face, glop on a bunch of grease, throw sand all over our bodies/shoes/vehicle, spray soda all over our bodies to assimilate that sticky ocean water feel, invite a bunch of seagulls into the kitchen to battle us for every scrap of food, turn some giant fans on 50mph blowing stuff everywhere" etc.

I'm retired. This is my everyday dream.

I have always loved the beach, well until I started bringing my kids to the beach. Bringing any kid from age 0-3 is freakin miserable and I’d rather just stay home or take them to the local park.

As the south is getting blasted with cold and snow.

I wish it would snow in July, beats 95 with 86 percent humidity.

Beaches are for boring obese people who can't physically do more than waddle to a beach chair and have a drink. sad.

Anyone that would want to do more than sit in a beach chair, and have a drink doesn’t understand the concept of relaxation.

Give me beaches all day. And while it is an over generalization I do think many who say mountain are hipsters and faux outdoorsmen looking for approval.

The beach on a still day sucks arse. The beach on a windy day is incredible.

Gulf Coast beach vacation rentals have gotten absurdly overpriced for me to find much value but yeah, people love it.

A lot of places on the west coast and in Europe have low humidity and a warm sun on their beaches, with water unbelievably clear and blue, but their sand sucks.

The gulf south beaches have the best sand, but the humidity is awful, and the water is just okay.

The water is WAAAAYY better off the Florida beaches than it is on the West Coast. The ONLY advantage on the West Coast is low humidity.
