he difference here is you can choose what you want to see instead of letting an algorithm designed to maximize usage time do it for you. If you get addicted to outrage here it's because you choose to go to the Poliboard or Rant

this site is built and paid for on clicks, and if you don’t think they have structured it to get the maximum number of clicks then you’re fooling yourself

Look at the Click Bait articles they post, and think about the benefit they gain for having 100 boards that you have to direct to in order to get what you’re looking for

I hope you're getting all the attention you want here now that you deleted your Facebook page. My prayers are with you. So brave.

Not sure it's really a debate, TD/message boards are absolutely social media.

Definition:

: forms of electronic communication (such as websites for social networking and microblogging) through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (such as videos)

That's TD. The "social networking" is thrown in as an example, not a catch all. It ifts all the criteria by definition.

When most people talk of social media they are talking about social networking. The term began being used when MySpace was king.

By a loose definition the whole internet is a social media but big difference but this forum and what is normally considered social media (networking).

I think if you ask Chicken, he'll agree. He isn't exactly swimming in MySpace Tom money or the Instagram, Zuckerberg deep end of the financial pool.

You say I don't have friends? My Friendster profile begs 159 times to differ.
