Plenty of posts on OT bitching about AT&T in BR when Cox internet is humming along for me.
Cable internet is okay until you need to upload large files. 10-20 Mbps doesn’t cut it at times.
So your 1 Gbps internet Cox internet is flaccid when it comes to upload speeds.

Why is Cox so absurdly expensive? How do they stay competitive?

when the only other decent options for internet (in BR atleast) are AT&T and Rev…
it seems Cox has always had a subtle monopoly in Louisiana

The "do everything necessary to convince our customer not to cancel" trend is annoying as hell.
I bought a "trial subscription" to a newspaper in Montana to read an article about my Dad's co-pilot in WWII. It took me four phone calls to cancel. I cancelled a credit card that I never use and had to go through a gauntlet of "greetings yes much you cancel should you not yes?"
I now use a letter.

I turned in my Tv boxes last week. Still using the internet because they are the best option in my area.
In two years when they try to charge me for their full price for internet, I will figure out if they have better deals than they offer me by putting my neighbor`s address in the search bar. If they don`t give me the same deal, I`ll turn it off and the wife`s name will be the new account holder for the best deal.

You people paying Over $100 for 500GB or less need to get on the cox website and change your service.
They have a deal until 3/25/25 or a date close to that for unlimited data for $60 on 500gb for 2 years with free panoramic wifi. Other GB plans are available also.

The monopoly is based off of the local parish government controlling local cable TV services. But slowly things are changing, and the monopoly is breaking now that TV services are on its on last legs and more people prioritize internet services. Also, when AT&T launched Uverse, Louisiana made changes to franchise agreements to allow a company to over services on a statewide basis covering multiple jurisdictions as long as they provided some PEG services and paid franchise fees like cable companies.
Also part of the monopoly breaking is in business customers, I saw a sign in Slidell (charter/spectrum territory) that Cox was expanding on the north shore for only business customers. Rev I think is moving in as well to take over some of the business market.
Rev has been doing that in places like Terrebonne where they offer businesses fiber services for TV, internet, and phones. Rev even bought a company that was specializing in providing internet and TV to apartments and condos bypassing the cable monopoly.

One of my coworkers went with AT&T 5g home network with no issues yet. Plug and play installation.
We have this. We were using one of their hotspots for a year with a few issues. Home internet became available. We live 1000 feet off the road, so we can't get Optimum without paying thousands.
$47 a month, typical speeds are between 350-600 mbps down, 100-150 up. No issues, been using it for close to 6 months now.

Yup. I just renewed my 2 year contract with this. For $70 you can get 1 Gigi.
Didn’t have to call anyone, just went online and did it.

I would like to switch to AT&T but they just installed it in my neighborhood and I want to wait a little while to see if any issues happen.
I would have dropped Cox Cable but that switch would be difficult for my dad.

AT&T is worst than Cox!
lmao.....Cox is an overpriced POS service. Ive been having AT&T Fiber and DTV for 15 years and haven't any issues except calling them every 10 months to get my cable bill lowered.

not by a long shot. service hasn't been interrupted since it was installed over a year ago. Faster than cox. Tech who came out to install was incredibly knowledgeable in his trade.

This must be for certain areas, not seeing anything near that deal when I check
