"Literally" called them about a drunk driver in front of Troop A on Highland. Guy tells me the troopers are all out and there was really nothing they could do about it.

I've had this happen with BRPD. It rang at least 10 times and no one answered.

Do you like colored lights, or white-only lights?

I've followed a blackout driver from Sherwood to Walker before after calling LSP and finally just gave up after he exited on Walker South and almost ran up into the trees. They swore someone would be waiting on him between O' Neal and Denham

*ETA: This wasn't today, but a couple years ago.

I'm convinced BRPD just shuts down at certain times. Like "frick it, the city will survive."

State troopers are horrible for things like this.

2 years ago I was traveling from NC to IL. Was on the western part of the state almost to Indiana. Semi truck was all over the road. I call 911, operator says we're sending out a trooper. Also states that other vehicles have called in. There was even this Van with a flashing light that got behind the semi so they could identify it. Sure enough the trooper shows up and follows the semi. Coming up on the state line the trooper slows down and doesn't intervene. I called up and demanded to speak to the officer. He said to me that he didn't see anything and it was too close to state lines to pull him over. I was furious.

Second incident was about a month ago. This grand Cherokee was speeding and driving wreckless. I'm heading on I57 in Illinois heading to Champaign. I call Illinois state police number (district office is in Pesotum, IL about 30 miles ahead) number doesn't work. I then call 911 they transfer me to a working number. I give them detailed information and told them to have a trooper waiting for us to approach. Come up on Pesotum and no ISP. at this point the vehicle is going over 100 mph and didn't see it pulled over the next 25 miles to Champaign.

I support law enforcement but hate seeing all these signs and cops don't do anything. I call in because I never want to get that phone that a friend or relative was hurt or killed because of a drunk/reckless driver

The Trooper has to witness a traffic violation to have PC to stop the vehicle. A caller is not enough PC.

Is it possible they just didn't have anyone close enough or available to respond? Its not out of the ordinary to only have one Trooper within a county.

If it's not catching speeders the troopers don't care
