This board shits on chains. Rightfully so usually. But I eat at Outback maybe once a year when out of town and there is an Outback next to my hotel. Have never had a bad experience.
Wedge salad - average piece of lettuce but above average bleu cheese with nice chunks of cheese
Ribeye perfect medium rare, good flavor
Solid baked potato
Glass of average Cab
Total with tip $35. A “good” steakhouse would be at least twice that. Service was polite and prompt.
Not a damn thing wrong with Outback

Friend,
1. Did you get the cheese fries?
2. Why do you prefer medium rare over rare?
3. How many loaves of bread did you eat?
4. Which Outback?
5. Are you on vacation or doing CME?
6. Did you put extra butter on your steak?
7. What toppings did you have on your potato?
8. How many glasses of water did you drink (high sodium content there)?
9. How long did you have to wait for a table?
10. When you return, would you like to take me to the Outback on Severn for a critics' comparison?
I too enjoy Outback. Not as much as Golden Corral, however. Outback's steaks are never big enough. I need at least 50 oz of beef for satiation.
Just Right,

How many appetizers did you help yourself to?

The wife and I eat at very nice steak places all the time and I'm constantly disappointed over the flavor of $60 ribeyes in comparison to the $24 ribeyes at Outback. And they have a blooming onion. You're correct, with only a couple exceptions, I'd choose Outback over most of the expensive places most of the time.

Crab cakes are pretty good as well

Haven't had Outback in years, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with it unless you're expecting some fancy steakhouse meal out of it. The bread alone is worth going

I occasionally go for sone Walkabout Soup.

oddly enough, I've sort of been craving a shrimp on the Barbie, or whatever they call that, lately, is it still on the menu?

Outback does have good salads.
I don't really care for the seasoning they put on their steaks though, or rather I don't like that they put so much on them. It's been a few years since I've eaten at one though.

Outback is consistent AF.
If I’m traveling for work and not in a cool city with good local options, I destroy some outback.

IMO, as far as chains go that aren't "higher end" like Capital Grille, Flemings, etc Logan's steak >>> Outback and other comparable chains. Maybe it has changed because I don't think I have eaten at either in at least 5 years.
Texas Roadhouse in Lake Chuck is always packed. That used to make sense but now that we have better steakhouse options I can't figure it out. I have never eaten at one.
