Yeah, he should just buy some things that he wants and get nothing that she wanted. When she tries to bitch at him, he should tell her that when she starts listening to him about things that frustrate him, then he'll start listening to her about things she finds frustrating. As long as we didn't have previous plans that evening I wouldn't care. Would say "have a fun time sweetie, see you later tonight" and that would be the end of that.
I do happy hours, book clubs, etc with my friends all the time after work. I just remind my husband of my plans.
I understand that having kids changes all that freedom...but still...both husband and wife need to have time with their friends on occasion.
