Find a boat around 42’-46’ single screw that way you and just one other person can work it.

Stay inshore and smoke a lot of meth

Anything bigger than that you’ll lose money.

I shrimp in my friends boat twice a year. I wouldn’t count on it as a profession

Tough work and you gotta know what you’re doing on a boat. A shrimp one that is

How long is shrimp season? Would you really need to quit your job? Can you start it as a hobby?

Well I’d have to quit my job as it is full time in order to move to Louisiana

you’re going hate them after sitting on the back deck of shrimp boat picking shrimp for 24 hours and you won’t be able to feel your hands because they will be so swollen and infected

most people go through this at your age. It takes a while, but you'll get to the other side.

Been there. Done that. Ran a small boat part time. 25 foot of all aluminum hull/rigging. 360 Chrysler inboard. Stayed mostly in the marshes and bays along the coast. Went offshore a few times out of Venice. Anyway, that was definitely NOT the way to make a living. I mean that as a guy who grew up on a dairy. It was a hard life with a helluva lot of pitfalls. The guys I met down in Buras / Venice who were “successful” as shrimpers barely managed to pay for the rent on a doublewide and the note on a secondhand truck.

Sell direct to the public off the boat, like what they do in Delcambre. If you have to work for a wholesaler you will lose money every time you go out.

You’d be better off trying to get into yachting/private charter boating
