I am considering joining the skrimpin bidness. I need advise

So I have an engineering degree and nearly 6 years experience, but I’m exhausted by the world and career and would consider manning a boat for a meager wage skrimpin
I am not a social elite with no outdoor experience, but my experience is limited to north Mississippi so I’d be way out of my element
Could I find peace in this profession or am I doomed to fail?
TIA

Go for it! Beats working from home and seafood is awesome.

1. Get a truck
2. Drive to Port Fourchon
3. Get on a boat as a hand for the day
4. Profit

Make sure you name your boat. It’s bad luck to have a boat with no name. Maybe something like “Jenny”.

Just head south ... lots of deck hand opportunities in Lafourche or Plaquemines Parishes. Show up early and don’t complain

Save your money. Once you learn the business, get a boat, set up a troll, and get going!

If you do it I’ll do it too. I’ve been looking for an excuse to trade in the white collar for a blue one

No wife, no kids? If so, go for it, you’ll know if it’s going to work out within the next few years. If it doesn’t, go back to what you were doing or on to another adventure. You’re still pretty young, so you have time to screw around.
