Do you not know that your very understanding of “moral integrity” and “being a moral person” are resting firmly on the pillars of Judeo-Christianity with a blend of Aristotelian logic and Roman justice?
You do realize that many religions also have this in common, right? Like, Hinduism. Buddhism. Islam, (extremists are not indicative of the general population of Muslims who are mostly peaceful people). I know plenty of atheists who are very giving and loyal people. On the other hand, as a person raised Catholic, I consider my fellow “brethren” to be some of the most corrupt and disgusting people I know.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to have compassion for people. Richard Dawkins, for instance, has given more to charity than you ever will. Jimmy Swaggart, on the other hand, is a piece of shite. You think Jimmy Swaggart is going to heaven and Dawkins is going to hell? If so, you’re a dumbass.
I don’t need a figure created by some alcoholic con artists 2000 years ago to tell me what’s right and what’s wrong. You obviously do, and that makes me more wary of people like you than I am any atheist on this planet.

quote:Actual you’re quite wrong. I wish you’d do a little reading. Not being moral has nothing to do with it. Most people live relatively moral lives I’d assume. That has nothing to do with believing in God.
You’re proving my point. You think it’s impossible to be a moral, good person without god.
What you can’t comprehend, or what you’ve never had the pleasure of hearing, is this: Your moral actions are totally inconsistent with your denial of God.
When you place a value judgment on an action, when you say something is wrong, you beg the question “by what standard?”
Non believers in God do not usually act as if God does not exist. They live inconsistent lives.
If God does not exist then there’s no reason I shouldn’t cheat on my wife, steak from my neighbor, and kill out of fits of rage.
See the difference?

Man you’re going to be so bummed when you find out god isn’t real
Dude literally put you on this earth and said “hey, I’m never going to appear to you or directly talk to you, you just have to take my word for it through these alcoholic deadbeats who wrote a book 2000 years ago, otherwise you go to hell forever, no matter who you help in life, even though I love you.”
frick you’re brainwashed. “God” is a sadistic figure of your imagination.

Alcoholic deadbeats?!
Someone has never read the crisp Greek of St. Paul, or the poetic beauty of the first chapter of John.
Give it a try!
You’re pretty mad. So what have you to lose? Why stay mad and dumb?

Wrong. I don’t believe in god. A higher power, maybe. But I think if there were a Christian god that you talk about, he’s a sadistic a-hole.
I don’t like to be hurt, I don’t like to be cheated on. Therefore, I don’t wish to do that to another person.
Nothing about god has anything to do with it. The fact that you think god is the dictator of all morality is pathetic.
I disdain god. I hate the idea of god. I think the idea of god is pathetic. But, I give to charity, I would never cheat on my significant other, and wouldn’t ever hurt a fly. And it’s insulting that you think I derive any of that from your sadistic god.

I know. Romans one talks about people like you (and me before Ephesians 2:1-8 happened to me). We all hate God and the idea of God, until we don’t.
The rest of your spittle comes from your lack of knowledge of God. You hate the idea of God that you’ve conceived. It’s not accurate. If you investigated Scripture and Christian theology you’d find out both who you are, who God is, and why you exist. It’s pretty amazing.

Do you know about the life of Paul of Tarsus? He did some stuff...

I’ve read the entire bible. Great literary stuff.
Now talk about Shakespeare, GK Chesterton, Neitzsche, Rudyard Kipling, Walt Whitman, Simone de Beauvoir... etc. All atheists. All beat the shite out of the literary prowess of the bible.

Also plenty of verses in the Quran talk about me too. Not sure what your point is.
Just sad that you take your cues on moral integrity based on something written 2000 years ago by 3 uneducated idiots and a doctor (Luke).
If you’re going to believe a retarded story like that, why not believe something a little more believable. Like, pretty much anything written since the 13th century
Posted on 1/3/21 at 9:53 pm to MJforPrez
Did you really just use the “r word” in every day language? That’s not a good look. Cringeworthy even...
The best thing about the Bible is just how believable it is. If it were made up, they did a terrible job.
Since the 13th century, writers like Aquinas, Calvin, Edwards, CS Lewis, and many other brilliant minds have gone on and on a about the beauty of Scripture and Christ.

Yeah? Cool man. Answer for the other hundreds of people smarter than any dude who wrote in the bible who were atheists.
Also, GK Chesterston Christian? Can’t find anything that says that, but even if so... congrats. Score 1!

You sound like a democrat with “gotcha” syndrome. Whatever floats your boat.

Aquinas, Calvin, Edward, CS Lewis
CS Lewis was my favorite of the bunch. Followed by Aquinas. Edward and Calvin were crap. Also, for every CS Lewis there are 5 Nietzsche’s and 5 Shakespeares. All brililiant. Some misled. CS Lewis being brilliant doesn’t bring truth to Christianity anymore than Richard Dawkins brings truth to atheism.
Close minded frick

You haven’t studied these religions, that much is obvious. There are significant differences between each of them and between them and Christianity. That’s not to say that they don’t share elements of truth.

It sounds like you’ve had some bad experiences with Catholics (CINO’s possibly? There are many of those.) Maybe that’s affected your perception. Nevertheless, you’ve got it wrong if you think that Catholics have low opinions of atheists, per se. There are many very good people who don’t have faith in God. Each one is on a path.
In the same way that all of us humans are called by God to an ordered and righteous way, we are all susceptible to sin and self-delusion. We need God. We need His love, the wellspring of all goodness.
Sexual sins are destructive to us and to others, and to our society as well. The Bible and the Church have great insights to lead us to God and to a better life For Us.
