Looks like at least two 18-wheelers and a car blocking the road. (This pic is from DOTD and may change as it gets cleared.)

First off, the left hand lane is for PASSING ONLY!
'Camping out' as you so eloquently put it, while going 80 in a 70, 8 feet off my rear bumper leaves you no time to brake should it be needed.

Checking out the deep dark maroon color in a traffic app is quite impressive right now.
I've literally stood outside of my car for an hour on the basin bridge, so I feel for the peeps that are there now. Sucks to be you this time though.

The people camping out are going 80 and are 8 feet off your bumper?

How many people will run out of gas running the AC?

I will never use that bridge w/o a near full tank.

Yes...Tejan's have this fetish to ride the left hand lane ALL the time. Just a few weeks ago I was in Tennessee, driving along in the rolling hills. Low and behold, I can see in front of me a car, in the left hand lane. It took me about 5 miles to finally catch up with it. No other cars around and this jackass is driving in the left hand lane the whole time! You guessed it. Tejan

I'm not disputing that left lanes are for passing only.
I am just wondering how a car camped out in the left-hand lane causes a collision. Are they running over people in front of them?
OR... are the people behind them too impatient and running over them?
I guess they are getting what they deserve, eh? Sounds pretty Mad Max-ish.

I think the only reason people stop off at the Tiger Truck Stop is out of sheer need for gas. They've perhaps some of the nastiest restrooms in 'Merica.
...well, maybe not, but damn, they're horrible.

because the idiot won't get over to let OTHER cars pass them by. The other cars have to pass the idiot in the RIGHT hand lane, cause other cars to lane dive in heavy traffic, which is most of the time from Lake Charles to New Orleans and beyond

I see. So the cars that are passing are failing to control their speed and are rear-ending vehicles? That's what I thought.

I got cut off by a Texas driver yesterday in the rain and had to slam on my brakes. She was at a dead stop behind an 18 wheeler in the middle lane that was not moving, I was in the left lane going about 40 approaching some slower traffic in the left lane just up ahead of the 18 wheeler. As I am about to pass, without any blinker or indication, she whips into my lane. It was absolutely pointless and nearly caused a completely stupid wreck. For this move, she gained about 20 feet where she now sat at a dead stop in the left lane.
Moral of the story, frick BR drivers in general, but the Texas drivers have a disproportionately awful record in my experience. The camping in the left lane is just something that stands out like a sore thumb. They also drive like dickholes in general though.

That's a little different... an unsafe lane change versus "camping out in the left-hand lane."

Stuck on this on the way to Texas. At least 2 more hours to go

SUCKERS.
I left early and blew through there about 3 before the stupid could cause the daily traffic shite show. I'll eat another delicious shrimp and have another beer in front of the air conditioner in celebration that I'm not one of the damned.
