From what I hear, the railroads are trying to position themselves to compete.

My car gets pretty damn good gas mileage and it gives me peace of mind knowing my family isn't living in Baton Rouge. Love the Tigers but damn, I don't have the budget to live in the safezones of the city.

I take the Swamp Bridge to 71. Only takes me an hour to get to work.

Damn sorry for your loss. I'm interested though to know if his accident was 18 wheeler related.

I rarely see 18 wheelers doing 75-80 anywhere.

drive the basin bridge and you can see Sandbuck transport, CEI, and Stranco trucks running 75 while traveling in the left lanes. Both actions prohibited on the BB.

When you say "we", who are you referring to? "We" don't own the RR's. The RR companies build and own them (well, probably 99.9%). Are you saying that the government should step in and fund this?

Drunk Diver rolls his car in single vehicle accident. 3 Tractor Trailer rigs stop to block traffic to avoid further injury to driver of car. 4th Rig plows into rear of one of the trailers stopping traffic, killing both driver and passenger of said rig.

Very sad someone has to continually die because of 18 wheelers. That right lane only law needs to be sternly enforced in that stretched from Henderson to BR

I agree. And every section they possibly can needs to be widened to 6 lanes with the center barrier to prevent crossover accidents.

So when one 18 wheeler wrecks another 18 wheeler, do they still call Gordon McKernon?

Wouldn't that work best on a rail system? I say put another set of tracks, so you have on going both directions, and seems cargo hoping in each direction all day long.
