I-10/12 going West at the split where both meet up with I-10

This is not about traffic, this about how the lanes in question feed into I-10.
Picture yourself driving Westbound on I-10 and I-12 separately...well before the widening of I-10 through there (Pre-construction, if you will). Did the lanes from I-10 put you in the lanes closer to the College drive exit (or the right side of the lanes) and the lanes from I-12 put you on the other side (the left side of the lanes)? This is opposite of how it is now, where I-12 has the easier access to the College Drive exit at the split and I-10 is on the left hand side of the lanes when both meet up. I'm 99.9% sure that this is how it was, but I figured I'd come here for some feedback.
Thanks for reading

THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THAT I-10 EASTBOUND SHRINKS DOWN TO ONE LANE AFTER CROSSING THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER.

In 2065 threads will be started asking our grandchildren to imagine driving in Baton Rouge before the loop. And people will laugh at their satire because we still won't have a loop.

has nothing to do with what OP is talking about...but I agree

Can you rephrase the question?

If you currently take I-12 west to where it meets with I-10 (just under the flyover to I-10 East), you will find yourself in the lane that exits to College Drive (or the 1 or 2 lanes to the left of it). Before the widening of the interstate, you would meet up with 10 at the lanes further away from the College Drive exit, not closest to.

Five lanes, from left to right: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
As it stands now, I-10 meets up with I-10 at the split in lanes 1, 2, and 3. I-12 meets up with I-10 in lanes 3, 4, and 5.
Before this happened (and I can't remember how many lanes there were back then), I-10 met up with I-10 in lanes 3 and 4...while I-12 met up with I-10 in lanes 1 and 2.

1 & 2 are essentially I10

are you saying lane 1 & 2 weren't there?

this is what is blowing me away...what happened to lane 3 & 4?

Unless I'm misunderstanding the situation, it sounds like the only way for that to happen would've been if I-12 went over I-10 at the merge and deposited cars in lanes 1 & 2, the far left lanes. (Or conversely, if I-10 went over 1-12 to deposit cars in lanes 3, 4, & 5 on the right side.)
I don't recall there being any other overpasses around there. I can't remember which side they added a lane (or lanes) to, but I think it was on the left side. So originally 1-10 would have gone into lanes 3 & 4 or something like that.

I think it was the second one, I-12 went under the I-10 overpass...and spit out in the left hand chunk of the lanes, ie. lanes 1 and 2.
I'm not making this up, someone on here has to remember this.

That’s a lot of numbers and dashes, lol
Basically traffic is bad, right?

Picture yourself driving Westbound on I-10 and I-12 on separate occasions.
