Hyundai Santa Fe

My perception is that Hyundai has come a long way in the past 10 years in style and reliability. I can research depreciation and resale to find that part out, but....
1. Anyone have real life experience getting one of these to 180k miles with no major problems?
2. Is the 10 year, 100k warranty legit or are there a bunch of hoops to jump through to keep it in tact?

I know four people with Hyundais (one with the Sante Fe) all are over 100k miles. They never gave trouble in our out of warranty.
I would say they are really reliable and they stand behind the cars longer than anyone else because they know they are good cars.
The warranty is legit. It is transferable too. So say you buy a used Hyundai, the warranty comes with it.

Only if you buy a certified one. Otherwise you get the industry standards 3/36 B2B and 5/60 powertrain.

it converts to a 5 year 50,000 mile warranty if you buy it used. at least up to a couple of years ago, maybe it's changed.

Great cars. Warranty is legit. You don't have to baby the cars, they'll take a beating. Just don't buy one planning to trade in within a year or two. Resale sucks balls.
I have 2 hyundais. Both are 80k miles +. Never had to take them in for anything other than standard service.

You can upgrade the warranty to 10/100 bumper to bumper for $800-$1500 depending on the vehicle. It's well worth it because it covers electronics, nav, etc.
Hyundai are good cars. Their resell still isnt what others are but any of their vehicles are a solid investment for those wanting to keep a car for long term and high mileage. They are not a good fit for people that want to get into a new car every 2 years or think 40k miles is high mileage.

I've owned one for 6 years. Great buy. Went through the Smokies a few times with it and it handled them very well.
ETA. I've just turned the milage over 100k.

Looked at one today and was kind of surprised that I really liked it. Glad this thread was started because I wanted to hear if owners are happy with them

My boss drives a 2010 Hyundai Veracruz crossover with around 200k miles. Since he bought it new, he has been using it as a business travel car for years. He goes out of state all the time with it. From what I heard it's been problem free so far.

We have a 2007 model. It has 150,000 plus miles on it, and it has not had any work done on it. Original everything under the hood.

Yeah man-quick search on auto trader for used pilot vs. highlander vs. santa fe (not the sport model, gotta have 3rd row), all with leather and under 30k miles shows a ballpark price difference around 5k. If there's relative confidence that they'll all get to 150k with no headaches.....i'm liking the santa fe....

If your back can take the beating from the crappy ride, then I guess they are reliable.
