I do commercial HVAC and personally wouldn't buy anything other than a Carrier for my house. That said, any of the big 4 (Carrier, Trane, Lennox & York) should give you many years of good service. I also come in contact with plenty of Rheem, Bryant, and Goodman units that are ten plus years old and working fine but they are a step down in workmanship compared to the big four.

Only the Carrier Infinity line. Their lower SEER stuff is very weak because they lack condenser coil surface...and Bryant is just a rebadged Carrier. Rheem and Goodman have upped their game the last couple of years. I would watch for a possible drop off though with future Goodman units. Because of cost factors they are beginning to use Chinese compressors in some units. I'm a Copeland fan. No unit is going in my house without it.

I might add to those reading, your system is only as good as the install. Doesn't matter how good the system if it's installed half arse.

By "all in one"I assume you mean a package unit? No you aren't going to walk in off of the street and get a carrier for near that.

One question are Rheem and Ruud still basically the same thing? Made in the same factory?
