You mean you're concerned about a tropical system potentially just drifting into the central gulf nearing peak hurricane season with such a long time table before it hits land?

HWRF sent this into Mexico as a Cat 4
It seems the models are projecting a big strong ridge over the northern gulf to plant this thing into Mexico. HMON also burying it into Mexico as a major hurricane.

Looks like Fred is trying to flex one more time. Impressive to see a somewhat organized storm given how it fought sheer in the Gulf.

I always get a sensible chuckle when a cone shifts 250 miles over the life of a storm just for it to make landfall in the original spot they had it making landfall a week ago.

It's getting gusty on the coast east of St. George Island. We're supposed to get 5 inches of rain today, winds only around 30 mph. Gusts are over that now. This afternoon I'll drive around and see what the storm surge is like.

I rented a house for a week there a year or so ago. The lady that owned the house, and everybody we came into contact with, were really nice people.
I hope they don't sustain too much damage, or none.

The sun is up over Fred this morning. Winds 50 mph, it moves into the Florida panhandle this afternoon. Most of the wind, rain, and storm surge impact will east of the circulation center.

So ultimately Fred is making landfall as a strong TS around panama city
Which is what they predicted 5 days ago
We will ignore that little cone shift all the way to Biloxi a couple days ago

I hope Tom Rinaldi does a story on Fred

So how will a strong ridge build in to push Grace to Mexico? Wouldn’t Fred and TD8 keep that from building up and leave a weakness to turn north?

idk. All the nhc does is trust the models
