Louisiana has been absolutely drenched with rainfall this year. Even a small hurricane would probably harvest a lot of trees.

latest GFS just out has Fred a little stronger at landfall than previous run - 995 mb and totally dissipates Grace.

Last month or so has been more normal summer pattern, rain 2-3 days a week

Recon just made another pass through center of Fred. 26 N 85 W. Center is also clearly visible on satellite.

Yep we were very lucky for Laura and Delta last year to be dry relatively speaking…..not this year you are 100% right.

Shiiit here in BR I'm getting pelted with heavy thunderstorms seems like at least 5 days a week. Can't hardly mow the yard because it stays sopping wet.

Convection firing over the center, could lead to a little strengthening

The tracks on Fred and Grace have kept these storms to a whimper. I can’t remember when a Allen or Gilbert went through the Caribbean and struck potential fear to the Gulf coast. Maybe the AB ridges we’re stronger for Allen (1980) and Gilbert (1988) and kept their tracks way south from Haiti and DR.

Conditions must be hostile in the Caribbean because it’s looking like Grace will mostly miss the islands now

Also got another system near Bermuda at 70% chance of development moving south

It's beautiful. Nothing like a good Sunday afternoon storm after finishing yard work.

Allen or Gilbert

Don’t remember Allen, but I remember Gilbert crossing the Gulf with 200+ MPH.
Born an raised in way south east Louisiana and for this one I was getting nervous.

Recon also heading out to Fred. Sat shows convection firing near the center of the system and both the 18z HWRF and HMON get this very close to hurricane strength before landfall.
