From the good people at Stormcastforums:

This is the Deep Mind Operational (Green) and Experimental (Blue) ensemble members

This seems to corroborate with those forecasts and lead it into Mobile (or thereabouts)

I have to say, it's fairly awe inspiring that so many people have access to information and can distill it down so everyone can get some idea on what might happen alongside the official forecast.

if it’s this far west I think they’re saying likely weak.

I'm not going to pretend to be a weather guru, but isn't the storm tracking further west the longer it's projected in the gulf? Which would mean more time in warm water to strengthen?

Normally yes but in this case, it has longer to be affected by the wind shear.

Faster and east = stronger storm

Slower and west = weakened by shear

Yes, the American model GPS has it as a 3 yesterday and the opposite today it’s not accurate on this one.

So let’s say this hits the New Orleans area. What strength would it hit us at more than likely?

I am in Tampa until Saturday but live in Covington. May cut my trip short and fly home Friday afternoon. Have wife and kids at home. Not sure what to do yet.

Large parts of northern Louisiana, central Mississippi, southern/central Arkansas, and northern Alabama need rain pretty badly and it looks like this could be positioned to fulfill that need if you're looking for a bright side here.

If Google's models end up being accurate, Mississippi in particular will get inundated from north to south.

The best outcome at this point would be a fairly weak Cat 1/TS at landfall that does minimal damage but takes that southwest to northwest sweep across the entire region
