I couldn’t talk my son and his GF from leaving Sarasota so I’m gonna be a mess for the next 24 hrs plus. He’s just off Clark Ave. (hwy72) in Sarasota about 2 miles from the beach.
(If you happen to see him float by throw him a life preserver and tell him his Dad says he still loves him… even if he’s a dumbazz. )

He is just a mile down the road from me. We are also off Clark rd. Unfortunatley for him and us, we are going to get the eye.

IF he gets in trouble and needs help, email me. I will do anything I can to help them.

Water quickly getting closer to the bushes at Sand Cay Resort cam. There was a lot of sand visible earlier, not so much now.

He's tied to a pier that's already under water. Wtf does he expect to happen when the surge lifts his line off of that piling?

I don’t think he thought further than his next hit off the pipe.

Just want to say that I hope you all weather this well. Good luck, and stay as safe as you can.

Latest recon was probably 125 mph.

Thats what I just told my family. I get for messaging keeping the winds a little high but c'mon, its obviously not a high end 4 right now.

I will be honest, I was of the same opinion when we moved here. Hated them

Now that I have been here 4 years or so with one, I could not imagine having a pool here without one. There are pros and cons and the pros are triple the cons

This thing will end up making landfall as a weak category 3.

The media hyped it up as a doomsday scenario when it was a Cat 5 even though they knew it would weaken.

It looks closer to a cat 2 than 4 on satellite. The eye has imploded.

I hope that it continues to weaken but to me it looks the eyewall is jumping back and trying to strengthen. That's just what I see compared to some that think its falling apart.

None of us will really know for a few more hours.
