I’ll have more photos up as I didn’t take many today. We were in Panama City, which isn’t the worst damage on the coast. That’s another 20-30 miles east.

However, these people got absolutely rocked by the storm. Lots of destroyed homes and not in a particularly wealthy area. In fact, most of the PC to Mexico Beach is pretty poor.

But extremely good folks and most had a great attitude. We offered fuel to many people who turned it down as they had plenty and “someone else may need it more.”

Here’s a few shots:

Panama City

Power lines down with 3 large pines blocking the road on a small street.

There’s a home here you just can’t see it.

Any idea about how Carabelle beach fared? My neighbor's aunt owned a house there, I used to go down for a month or two at a time. Really enjoyed it there. Have been wanting to go back, but they both have passed so don't have free accommodations anymore.

Are there a lot of second homes/camps/ rental properties and vacation homes from the air base to Port St Joe? Seems like a stretch similar to Grand Isle just several miles longer.

Not as bad as the Mississippi gulf coast after Katrina

A couple of days with a chainsaw should have all that cleaned up

I keep seeing this. Is this a competition? Did I miss the memo?

The fact that I had a mother fricking boat on top of my house would tell me otherwise.

Yea there’s no grand debate on who’s situation is/was worse. All of these occurrences are unfortunate and massively disruptive to life.

I saw over 20-30 homes yesterday completely destroyed from old pines falling. Kids everywhere with power lines laying across their front yards and sewer systems backing up into the streets.

The flooding is more focused on the Mexico Beach to Apalachicola areas, but the missing roofs, destroyed cars and homes, etc... it’s widespread.

Cant just blame the pines. Almost any tree will fall in these types of winds especially if the ground is wet with the rain before the big winds hit. Id rather a pine fall on the house then some of those huge oaks that blanket the south. It seems when mother nature is angry trees are not the best thing to have around your house. just a few things come to mind: fires, tornados, hurricanes.

What kind of math were people doing back in the olden days that this became synonymous with destruction?

We should mostly plant live oaks and cypress trees (some palms) along the gulf coast.

Water/ Pin oaks and pine trees are just dangerous with huge winds and rain.
