No dropsonde info yet to confirm but that would be a steady pressure give or take.

Cursory reading of raw numbers indicate that outer band is Cat 3 strong with the inner rocking Cat 5 winds still. Could be reading them wrong however.

Would make sense given the radar indicated wind gusts. However, I am not sure of the % error involved in those readings.

I'd call it 15% given you're seeing winds above the surface and it'll lose more speed from friction with the land on St. Croix.

ST. Croix will def be spared the worst. But PR is in for one hell of a night.

H. 910 mb
I. 13 C / 3050 m
J. 22 C / 3046 m
K. 9 C / NA
L. CLOSED
M. C10

910 mb.

Closed one eye of 10 miles across.

Of course, theres a clear double maxima and the radar doesn't lie. It's been facinating watching these "ERC"s go down in these super intense no shear scenarios.

I feel like I have said this way too much over the last few weeks, but what an incredible storm.

I guess now the concern is the timing of completion.

With an expanded wind field no one on PR wins.

Time for bed. Gonna hate to see what I wake up too in the morning for these poor folks in PR.

I know this is for Maria, but what exactly is going on with Jose? Stalling out in the Atlantic for good? Coming back on shore as a tropical depression in the mid atlantic?

St. Croix looks to be getting very lucky tonight, relatively speaking.

Jose appears to be dicking around and dieing and not a threat to anyone not on a ship in the area.

looks like a wobble north in the latest radar image i hope not though. AFter looking again they should not get the very worse of the storm I think.
