866 right into Miami. Talk about destruction. Models don't usually hit it right on this far out though....

On TropicalTidbits, when I switch from the GFS to the Euro, the color scales change. Switching back to another forecast retains the previous color scale. (GFS or other stays Euro default yellow).

How do you go back to the default GFS Average 6hr Precip (mm/hr), MSLP (hPa), & 1000/500mb Thick (dam) scale without backing out of the models? I've tried the tiles under the forecast and not seeing it.

Not all models have the same data sets. Go back to the GFS, select Precip/Moisture, then select the 6hr option. If the model you go to next has that option, it will stay that way.

Copy, I figured it out. Was looking at a previously saved image and was trying to see another scale for comparison. Thanks.

On the gfs, you want the top model under precipitation, on the euro, the second on the list under lower dynamics.

Looking at the actual conditions in the eye of maybe the strongest Atlantic hurricane ever in Barbuda is way cool. So far, winds have dropped to zero, water level has risen 5.24', air temperature dropped from 85 to 75 F, and water temperature dropped from 30.8 to 28.1 C. If the eye is 30 miles wide and the storm moving at 13 mph, this would last over 2 hours if it were in the direct center. And I'm watching this live sitting at a computer in LA. I'm excited!

I realize it's 1 am, but there is a Cat 5 storm's eye closing over land right now and the Weather Channel is showing repeats of tornado and truck shows. What? The same asses who decided to name winter storms to drive up fear and ratings and they are ignoring this. Odd.

Great news, let's hope it falls in line with GFS

People are asleep. They'll be in full breaking news mode tomorrow.

As long as Alex Wilson is on there I'll put up with the theatrics.

Can the people in Key West take shelter in any of the big military air and naval bases down there? This emergency wouold seem to be a time when the US Military could open things up for emergency purposes. Let a big hanger be a shelter, I am sure they are built to withstand just about anything (or at least so I am guessing).

Are you kidding?

Why on earth would anyone on Key West stay?

Not likely, at least so far. It is north of the previous Euro, but south of the 00z GFS, at least through 72 hours.

It's common sense to leave but it always seems like there's a few who don't and take their chances.
