That 915 pressure still had a 15kt wind, so the pressure is probably lower.

Those little islands don't even register as far as slowing that thing down, do they? You could fit 5 barbudas in that eye.

Euro has started.

I just want to remind you guys that these people are ridding out a Cat 5 Hurricane. We are getting second by second accounts and information on this storm. Social media has what it's like on the ground.

This is incredible

NHC has said as much. Gust up to 195kts, ~225 mph.

Probably like an infant trying to tackle or slow down Jerome Bettis at full speed

They are very small. Puerto Rico will be the first large island.

Hell no, what you need are mountains. Just to stop it from gaining strength.

This is all flat with trees

May as well be an F4 tornado the size of a southern state.

The next few islands have mountains, but the islands are too small.

It's really more of an F4 about 35 miles wide. The winds outside of that are strong, but not nearly as strong as the maximum winds.

Just looked at the bara9 speed at 0kts.

Must be an unreal thing to go from 150 knots to 0 knots in a matter of minutes

SO in Covington is making bug out plans. I cant convince her the risk is minimal. She is still traumatized by Katrina and last year's flood.

F3s and F2s aren't fun either.

Can the people in Key West take shelter in any of the big military air and naval bases down there? This emergency wouold seem to be a time when the US Military could open things up for emergency purposes. Let a big hanger be a shelter, I am sure they are built to withstand just about anything (or at least so I am guessing).
