so... about potential Jose... may still be a tiny something there

ETA: Potential Jose would be that 999mb low by Florida/Georgia/South Carolina

ETA2: if this model were to verify (highly unlikely... too far out)... Jose would be a huge annoyance to a just crushed area

Euro 00z run is starting

00z yesterday - going all the through Cuba
12z yesterday - kicking the FG through the FL straits (aka bye-bye FL Keys)
00z... let's find out, shall we

ETA: off to a bad start

at 0 hour (aka right now)... it has it as a 1004mb low... which obviously it is much lower than 1004 at the current moment

Got these from @MJVentrice his bio says "Meteorological Scientist @WeatherCompany @IBM @IBMWatson. PhD in tropical meteorology"

quote:

Up to a 30% chance via the 12Z Calibrated ECMWF EPS for a landfalling Major Hurricane somewhere along the eastern seaboard #Irma

quote:

Wow, a number of ECMWF EPS members show a maximum-sustained windspeed of 180+mph for #Irma, rivaling Hurricane #Allen (1980) for record wind

quote:

These are the highest windspeed forecasts I've ever seen in my 10 yrs of Atlantic hurricane forecasting. #Irma is another retiree candidate.

I really really hope this MFer doesnt get into the gulf

I know it's early but there is very good reason for optimism that this thing stays out to sea. At least I feel it will be well east of my location. The magic east coast trough will be in place in time to send it up and out.

Irma is already a Cat 3? Isn't that really strong for a storm that far out? If that thing get in the gulf, we're in trouble.

Can't even get back to sleep awful thoughts running thru my head at the moment

It's hard to think logically (still 5 days or so from being anywhere close to accurate on this thing) when you realize the monstrous potential Irma has if it gets to GOM

Not surprising, but a north eastward shift across pretty much all guidance last night.

Where's the path of totality? Asking for the entire Gulf Coast.
