The trochoidal wobbling of #Eta's eye means a secondary wind max or eyewall is forming, but has not yet seemed to reverse the intensification trend based on satellite imagery. A recon plane is en route to finally provide some detailed data.

Sometimes in these high end systems it takes a while before a secondary EW can take over and produce an EWRC. Instead of getting an EWRC the pseudo secondary EW just keeps getting absorbed into the main EW.

How often do we get microwave passes like I posted earlier today? It would be interesting to compare them now to this morning.

I'm assuming that absorbing process is what causes the wobbles of the eye?

This storm seems very Wilma-esque. Could Eta challenge Wilma for the most intense hurricane on record in the Atlantic Basin?

Yes it might be. Recon has started to dive in. We'll know exactly what's going on under the hood soon. My 927 O/U about 90 minutes ago is getting blown the frick away at the very least.

882mb is the pressure that Eta will need to get below to beat Wilma.

Twitter video of lightening in eyewall of ETA

This looks like a 4th of July fireworks display. Incredible wish I knew how to attach the gif.

I was just looking at that. If I’m looking at the right island, then it isn’t inhabited.
