Every time I watch the weather channel telling people to evacuate and run while people walk down the beach behind them in swimsuits I think of the Glacier of Doom from Family Guy.

That was in Hanalei. I was there 6 weeks later and was amazed that the water was cleared up and only really noticeable damage was a couple of houses beside the Hanalei Stream where it runs into the bay. But the road to non residents ended in Hanalei. Everything from there to Ke’e Beach was closed off to non residents.

Would a whale swimming underneath feel choppy water? How far down would the effects of the hurricane go?
Someone (I think earlier in this thread) said they were a submariner in the Navy and traversed under a hurricane at 400 feet and it had churned the water up so much that it felt like they were on the surface.

The NAM 3k did pretty well with Harvey rainfall totals around landfall...
The 18z is showing 35-50" for areas from Wilmington to Jacksonville and back up towards I95.

I am sure I could be wrong here, but this makes it look like hot towers are wrapping the eye again as it stalls over the gulf stream, pressure is falling too, to 953 mb.
