I'd figure any house near the Gulf or Atlantic coasts would have those breakaway floors just for this reason

I guess that's still considered "flooded" even though it's designed to fail on purpose

It was always going to be a shite show for that low lying area. The surge will still suck on the coast. Inland won’t be as bad as feared.
