Chicken Little Syndrome. Look how they freaked out over Barry that was nothing more than a nuisance and a few thunderstorms. People are not going to pay attention when a real threat occurs because these so-called "experts" fear-monger and over-hype every storm that approaches the United States.

It looks like there is at least an outside chance for that ridge to weaken enough that Dorian will just get sucked out to sea. Here’s hoping.

I hooe it's not too strong when it hits. I hope it moves fast and doesnt stall. Im glad it's going inland and not curving back out to strengthen and hit some other time.

Is it correct that the ensembles that show a stronger storm are the ones that want to recurve it out to sea? Seems like that's quite a change in upper level steering.

So as of now only Icon has it hitting south florida with a chance to go into the gulf? Looks like Euro and GSF agree with northerly path thru Fla Ga border?

They definitely aren’t doing this for the public to heed their warnings. This is strictly a ratings move. And while I agree it may work in the short term, you’re correct that people will start tuning them out. They do the same with the named winter storms now.

The LA wishcasters don’t want to talk about it. They’ll pivot to the “lots of time for things to change” mantra today. Which is true, but it’s still gonna be fun to watch the pivot occur today .

What the frick are you talking about?

As quick as things changed yesterday from 11am to the 2pm....It can change again just as quick 4 more times in the next 24 hours before it makes landfall....

There's still a lot of uncertainty
Dont let your guard down
A lot can change
We're still a good ways out

I already have, and hardly ever watch the Weather Channel. They, and others like them, come across as Doomsday Prophets and are a big reason people in this country are so afraid of everything.

It's still very similar to the 12z run through 120 hours:

12z:

00z

Stronger storm is still further south, the difference is what happens after 120 hours in the two runs. That's a pretty dramatic shift to get out to sea. Hopefully we seem some run to run consistency with the 12z today.

Is there a TWC alternative to watch? I am in Orlando, so right in the crosshairs. I want to watch coverage but TWC is unbearable. Local news only option?

Which is why you should always focus on the NHC guidance that tends to smooth out the outliers. They're far more accurate than people seem to realize.

the only person I listen to now is David Bernard.....he is the only true hurricane expert in Louisiana that knows what he's talking about. He's got more experience than just about anyone on TWC and/or Louisiana

The best thing about TWC these days are the showgirls.

I think the locals came down on the weather people.. Last night the weather people across the board were very transparent about "we don't know where this thing will go...it's too soon to say".. Even Margaret "chicken little" Orr..

But of course when the models first get fired up they show it hitting Miami and New Orleans. It's like that's the preset model run and they only change it when they have to. Gotta scare the most folks.
