Looks a little west of 5 pm.

Any farther west than that would be bad news for the OBX.

I know we're all looking at Dorian (rightfully so)

but I gotta ask... a number of pages ago the TD Hurricane Experts talked about a big ridge building in and if any storms coming off the African coast get under it... that could be something for every part of coastal US to look at... including the Gulf coast

so my question comes with the wave the NHC has tagged right off the African coast now... giving it a 50% chance of development over the next 5 days

is that ridge still in play?

ETA: obviously talking about rds & Duke... all the other fools down below can EAD

Hurricane center might bring Dorian back to Cat 3 at 10 pm. The core does look the part on radar.

I also said it wasn't going to get back to a Cat 3 today about 10:30.

Win some and lose some.

That ridge will break down by the time any waves make the long journey to the new world

Yea, if it doesn't get far enough north by a certain point it could be a problem way down the road. It's got to survive first, don't think the models really do anything with it at the moment.

Good lord, TWC just showed some lower level drone footage of Abaco Island and it literally looks like a landfill. There’s nothing standing and all the houses are on top of each other.

There’s really no way for them to tell where their property starts or ends. It’s I believable

No doubt, there is a lot damage in the area, but since it's from TWC, you can assume they picked what showed the wery worst area. Awfulizing is their trademark.

The trajectory of that invest is never one you want to see, but it's a long way out. Give it a few days to develop and how everything sets up post Dorian.
