Growing up in the 50s & 60s, Scouting was a great activity to be involved in. There were good leaders who gave a lot of their time and efforts to teach some basic skills to youngsters who otherwise might not learn them. Unfortunately, like so much else today, a combination of of adults with the wrong motivations and PC idiots will ruin a great concept. The real losers are the kids coming along that will have fewer and fewer options to learn skills that could serve them when they become adults.

First of all, it's just called "Scouts" now AND they are being sued by the Girl Scouts. Touche' progs you've managed to frick over another conservative effort to allow young males a sense of normalcy.

I pretty much had to through my church. It was ok sometimes but given the choice I would not have joined.

One of my scoutmasters used to let a few of us hang out at his house, drink beers (we were 11), shoot pool, swim, and look at his massive porno mag collection.

Looking back at it with an adult mind he was obviously super suspect and there was very likely some shite going on out of my view.

My son went through a phase where he wanted to try scouting. I allowed him but I made sure I was always present at the activities.
