In my opinion, you are making the exact error that I was trying to point out. You assume that faith and knowledge are the same... thus the 'data' you want interpreted is based on faith, 'God's word that a flood happened'. Let me explain it a different way... if faith is actual physical proof... physical data that proved the existence of God/JC...
Who in their right mind would choose not to worship Him? Thus, what would happen to free-will, what will happen to faith? Would we not just become an obedient plaything with no choice, no purpose to live this life other than to serve and kneel by His side like a lap-dog? (BTW isn't that exactly what Lucifer wanted?)
Again, faith is faith, by definition, cannot be proven... should not be proven thus enable all of us to have free-will... gives us a choice which perhaps is the second greatest gift that God gave us.
Knowledge is completely different... You should not confuse the two...

I would be willing to bet that the amount of time that was considered a "year" in the ancient middle east isn't the same as a 365 day year we have now.
Isn't our current universally accepted calendar as far as days, years, etc based off of the Mayan calendar?

As covered earlier, many ancient cultures were moon oriented. 13 moon cycles in one of our years.
