Church weekend event.
Went out got drunk and was drinking a non bud light beer at the event.
Everyone told her not to date me.
Jesus, provides miracles.

She was using the urinal next to the one I was using (it was back in the old days…before she was allowed to use the ladies room)

Met her once in hs while I was dating another girl. Then about 5 years later my older brother got engaged to her best friend, we walked together at their wedding. They set us up, and we both knew it. Got a little liquored up at the reception and walked up to her and asked her “are we gonna dance or what?” Rest is history.

I've known her since I've lived in Arkansas, re-met her at a local sports bar right after college

She was with my neighbor’s girlfriend running an errand. I thought she was the most beautiful woman that I had ever seen, and I was hooked.

Introduced to her by a mutual friend on the top deck of the old riverboat President in New Orleans before a concert by the new wave band "The Cold". I was 17 and wearing a preppy blue and white striped button-down oxford. She was 14 and wearing a "Madness" band T-shirt and her retainer. Had our first date a couple of months later, dated occasionally over the next 2 years. Were steady and serious for the next two, but had a bad break-up. I moved away and lived with a girl, 3 years went by and one night I called her out of the blue. I had just finished grad school and she was in her 1st year of med school. We got back together, got married, 31 years so far.

At Dollar Bill's Annual Backyard Hootenanny back before the turn of the century. He just had this year's edition last weekend and here is a pic.

Connecting flight from Houston to New Orleans. I had middle seat, she had window. Captive audience.

It was 1996. I was a coworker and good friends with her first cousin. I was having a Labor Day cookout at my house and he asked if his sister and their cousin could come. She and I spent the whole night on my back deck talking. Before we knew it, the sun was coming up.
It may sound crazy, but when we saw the sun coming up, I knew my days of being single were numbered. It freaked me out so much I hesitated to ask her out. We’d see each other at social events and always seemed to end up hanging out and talking. But I still hesitated to ask her out because I knew as soon as I did, my bachelor days were over.
Finally, the weekend of the Iron Bowl (Thanksgiving) I couldn’t take it any longer. I asked her out and we had our first date that following weekend. I took her to Steak & Ale for dinner and to the movies to see Romeo & Juliet. I asked her to marry me the a few days before Christmas (yes, we literally “dated” like at best three weeks before getting engaged) and she moved in with me on New Years Eve. We were married July 20, 1997. This July will be our 26th anniversary. She’s my wife, my very best friend, mother to our two children, and she’s given me the best life a guy could ask for.
