I just did the math on my latest check stub, got sick to my stomach. Now I'm just pissed

It's already hard enough to live in today's economy, then you see how much is taken. And it doesn't benefit me AT ALL.

You sure about that chief?

How do you think all the infrastructure that you see was funded? The police? The Fire Department?

How are so many posters so retarded? lmao.

I believe he was being a little hyperbolic. But infrastructure is a joke. 2% of the fed budget goes to transportation. Most do not directly benefit from the fire department and the police department is debatable depending on where you live, especially with these new DAs being paid to negate all the work the officers are doing.

Have you driven lately? Most roads in this country are shite while we pay 12 million to teach gender studies in the freaking middle east.

As with most every topic, the OT is schizo as frick. The OT constantly bitches about how bad the roads are and how bad shite sucks and then simultaneously believes "TaXaTiOn Is ThEfT".

How the hell do you think the public goods are funded?

Good evidence shows that higher-tax areas tend to have better overall outcomes. Taxes should only be levied to fund necessary government operations, so I don't advocate for punitive taxation.

Just because you do not see it directly or use it, does not mean you don't benefit. How dense are you?

I don't have children or use the schools, but I benefit from having well-funded schools as this is a net positive for society.

The source of all the OT's issues politically is the collective false personal narratives that they did everything with "muh hard work" and did everything alone with no help from others.

I drive daily. Most of the roads near me are in decent enough shape. There are improvements needed for sure but overall not the #1 issue in my area.

You do realize it is possible to tackle multiple issues at the same time?

Funding gender studies is retarded but this is not some gotcha like you think it is.

If you are upset, write you congressman and get involved. Stop bitching on the internet and do something about it, keyboard warrior.

ETA: I'm also a well known hater of American car culture and suburbs and advocate for better public transportation and nuking of suburbs. That's a topic for another thread tho.

" Decent enough shape" for anything infrastructure related is BS. Why in the world should we fund anything outside of the US when nothing is close to perfect here. There is also a homeless and mental health crisis in the US and we fund the most BS across the freaking globe. It's a joke.

Do you not drive? They move traffic through accidents every day where I live.

Would you opt out of part of your taxes, but you can’t call the police or fire department if you ever need them? Truly, one of the dumber comments I’ve read in a while

The libs want to talk the talk but wont ever do what they say. Just like how most of them want the illegals to be allowed to stay but they wont take them into their home.

I get 10-99s for my off-duty security work.

24% Federal income tax
13% Self-employment tax
1.45% Medicare tax
8.25% Sales tax on anything that I buy with the proceeds.

Total:46.7%

The government screws me out of almost half of my earnings, then some talking heads on TV want to tell me that I'm not paying my fair share.

What sort of weird arse companies y’all getting bonuses in December. Q4 ain’t over yet.

We don’t even get a sniff of bonus talk till February, after Q4 earnings are publicized.

Now wouldn’t expect that at most companies.

Still…. Giving bonuses before the end of the year seems very strange to me.

Self-employment tax includes Medicare, so there is double counting there.

You also get a deduction for 1/2 of the SE tax to be in line with regular wage earners.

Also, not all purchases are charged sales taxes, so you are inflating your tax liability there.

B+ for effort in feeling super oppressed tho, king.

That is the standard per IRS guidance. It can vary depending on the income level but that is the minimum required withholding rate.

There is at least one. The one who thinks we have adequate infrastructure and police/fire services for the amount of taxes we pay. Maybe it's too much to say he doesn't benefit at all, but we sure as shite should benefit more for the taxes we pay.

That's the required minimum rate on supplemental payroll items. Most payroll software will default to 22% on bonuses.
