They would have found another excuse to start a forever war somewhere imo. Too much money to be made.

A lot of people would still be alive though.

Barrack Obama would have almost certainly served only one term.

Why is it a safe assumption that he would have run for President. I mean really, on 9/11 he was sitting at some bar like the rest of us watching this unfold in horror.

My conservative family was highly suspicious about the War in Iraq. Tons of people would have spoken out against it if it weren’t for 9/11.

Interesting take. As someone working in that arena in the late 1990’s I can tell you that we were aware of terrorism and working on it but not the way that it is approached now. There wasn’t the urgency to kill those frickers that we have now. It is entirely feasible they could have quietly built a dirty bomb instead of flying planes into buildings and we would have never known until they used it.

Our capabilities then were 20% of what we have now.

In 2001 I was dating a girl whose parents lived in the DC area and were pretty well connected. In the aftermath of 9/11 the rumor mill was working overtime that AQ had got their hands on some Russian suitcase nukes. Her parents were at a black tie event one night where a lot of high level dignitaries were also in attendance. Some men in dark suits came in and hustled all the A Listers out of there, leaving everybody else standing around wondering WTF just happened.

Looking back, it's really amazing to see the propaganda from the time.

Tons of people did speak out about it, and they did it anyway. They'd have found an excuse to do it regardless.
