It's not a teacher's job to raise the kids, too. It has been said a lot in this thread, but it starts at home. Dads need to start taking pride in raising good kids. Unfortunately they take way more pride in "baby mama drama" or whatever other shite they call it.

Correct, but a good learning environment will inspire kids to want to learn more, create ambitions with what they want to do with their life, etc.

I think that is a large part of the problem with our public school system as a whole, not just inner city schools.

I agree with you, but both must be improved simultaneously.

It will take a decade or more to truly impact inner city culture but I think a public/private mandatory after school mentorship program would be required.

Start by bringing the schools up to high technological standards and hire truly qualified teachers. Pay much higher salaries to get the best willing and available.

The goal of the program is to minimize the children's contact with the patents as much as possible and to keep them off the streets. The parents are beyond help as they have been institutionalized. Sadly, some parents would be okay with their kids "sleeping over" at school. Offer that to those whose parent couldn't give a shite if they come home or not.

Make it a fun program with all kinds of extracurricular activities led by people who volunteer as mentors. Make it mandatory for every school age kid 12 and under. After a decade the first group of kids will be 22 and conditioned better to be a positive to their community or to escape from it to a better life. It would take time and money. But it could be done.

Didn't read the whole thing but..
Education
Welfare legislation change- incentivize the people who work. The current system cuts you off quickly if you are working over the minimum hours. What motivation would they have to work if their benefits are cut immediately if they try to better themselves. Needs to have a gradual wean off.
For all the people talking about contraception and making women get an iud... You complain about the left funding planned parenthood but PP is where a lot of poor people go to get treatment and birth control. You can't have it both ways.
Legalize drugs and make it a medical issue.
De-privatize prisons

Something that absolutely does need to happen is dissolving the teachers' union. The union doesn't protect good teachers, it protects bad ones. I could ramble on about how bad some unions are for this country but that's an unrelated topic

What is this fictional teachers union y'all keep talking about? Only a few states have teachers unions and iirc none in the south. I know for a fact that texas does not.

I live in Ohio and there is nothing fictional about it. It exists, and it is horrible for local school districts.

Institute the Saudi justice system. Start chopping heads on friday PM for murder, rape and other violent crimes. Some thugs would turn law abiding fricking immediately.

We need tougher penalties for all crimes. Nobody is afraid to go to jail anymore. Make it to were they don't want to go back or put that fear in them that they don't want to go. Jail has almost become second nature to a lot of criminals and it doesn't faze them.

Black men already get the toughest sentences. The problems you see in the IC come from the lack of fathers, the war on drugs, inadequate education and poverty.

Ending the WoDs, providing quality education, and setting up employment opportunities for AAs would stem these problems. The biggest problem is poverty.

Poverty causes young black men to sell drugs, they commit violent acts while selling or get caught with a piece, then they get football #s and the cycle repeats itself. You're seeing that with white folks now with all these single parent homes. Kids need both parents. The real question is why don't we try to stop all the violence. We live in a violent society that needs to be fixed.

It's a cultural thing. We can't fix it for them. They need to take personal responsibility and fix their own culture.

They put gang members on a pedestal and put down those who work their asses off, are educated, and are well spoken. This is a HUGE problem, IMO.
