everything is perfect in it’s imperfection. Good and bad, right and wrong is just human opinion. It’s all perfect from a cosmic perspective. Cynicism is just a result of being too judgmental about things. Everything happens for a reason. Reasons that are beyond human logic and comprehension.

Get off the OT man, seriously. The OT only shows the nagatives in society and it’s 90% bitching.

I find myself becoming increasingly cynical as I get older. It really is counterproductive, but I haven’t found a way to fix it yet. I find the only thing that somewhat helps is to take a day off from work when I feel it coming on.

Why fight it? Better a cynic than a pollyanna.

Look up Shad Helmstetter.

What to say when you talk to yourself is a book.

Gratitude. It's that simple. Actually recognize and be thankful for all of the good stuff in life.

We grew up cynics because nothing about this society is real.

Why? Marcus Aurelius didn’t get to be emperor of Rome because he wasn’t steeped in cynicism.

Become a caregiver, seek out opportunities to serve those in need.

Stoicism and cynicism are necessary survival tools.

Get rid of cable/social media, eat/sleep better, focus on helping others and stop being a bitch about it

Good post

Or how I have some friends that can’t get pregnant or have lost a child.

The losing a child is brutal but you can not be able to have a child and live a good and fulfilling life. Have several friends in that situation and they are very happy people.

Other points about getting off the OT are good. Limit internet time and social media. This site is great for hilarious responses, many really good replies on certain topics, but overall can be extremely negative vibe about most things. Almost not real life the amount of cynicism this board can have overall.

I am not convinced that you can change your default. I don’t believe it is possible. Maybe I’m not the right one to ask though.

Not a good fit for a cynic. They'll end up being cynical again when they realize theyre being used.

This is going to be a hard pill to swallow, but this is from Chris Williamson newsletter. His podcast, Modern Wisdom is amazing, lots of evolutionary psychology. Cynicism is a protective mechanism.

3 MINUTE MONDAY – CYNICISM, CHILDLESSNESS & SELF-CONTROL
January 16, 2023
3 Minute Monday
Hi friend,

I had a really fascinating conversation about cynics and the modern culture of negative skepticism with Michael Malice this week.

“Being black pilled guarantees that you can’t be accused of naivety.”

This is a huge driver for why cynicism is so popular I think.

Two amazing comments my YouTube channel explained this perfectly…

“Cynicism as Michael espouses it is 1000% a guarded response.

You’re setting yourself up against disappointment.

The worst, most obnoxious, black pilled cynics are pretty much always heartbroken by their own experiences and terrified to hope.

It’s more comfortable to get fatalistic and call it pragmatism.

The cope is framing hope as pathetic and embarrassing and optimism as delusion (which is a projection on their end).

It’s “sour grapes” at an existential level.

If everything sucks, and everyone is horrible, and reality is disappointing and you know that for a fact, it’s the people acting like things can be better that are dumb/delusional/the problem.” — @alc8736

And…

“Cynicism is a psychological protector.

Its role within the system is to protect you against experiencing anything bad. It is a pre-emptive strike against a perceived threat.

If I tell myself that ‘all women are bad’, then I’m less likely to seek a relationship with women and, as a consequence, I’m never going to feel the pain of rejection.

If I tell myself that ‘everything is shite’ or that ‘things will never get better’, then I am excused of ever having to try at anything.

The upside of never trying is never having to feel the pain of failure.” — @md1trk

I literally listed three things as examples of what can make one depressed and cynical in 2023.. How many things would be satisfactory to you ? Do i need to go through the litany of all the things that are wrong, just so you can cherry pick one thing again that you disagree with ?? Give me a fricking break .
