A real answer would be to use a sonic deterrent.

Normally, they will scatter with noise, as many other animals do.

I used to exterminate wallabies in Australia with a .22. Pretty sure that would work on kangaroos, as well.

Plant Tabasco bushes around the edge of your garden. The kangaroos wont go near it.

I have 500 acres near Melbourne, this worked for me.
