How old are you? I'm in the same situation sort of, but I'm probably older than you which scares the shite out of me.

So, you have experience with chemical testing and have a passion for preserving the outdoors.

Sounds like you need a job in coastal restoration. Good luck

NOLA.com Article - Coastal Restoration is a Booming Industry

quote:

Billions of dollars are being spent to protect, revive and restore Louisiana's coast. Long considered to be one of the biggest threats to the safety of Louisiana, coastal erosion, and the work to fight it, is now among the state's biggest industries.

"After the recession from 2010 onward, it gained over 7,000 jobs," said George Hobor of Data Center. "Second was oil and gas production, which gained a little more than 4,000 jobs."

Those 7,000 jobs can be found in fields focusing on coastal restoration, water management and levee maintenance. There are more jobs than workers who are qualified to fill them.

This. 28 and no wife or kids. You can find a $30K job almost anywhere, and build a career from there.

When is too old to do this? I'm almost 32 and want to start over. For some reason, 28 seems so much younger than 32 although my perspective is probably fricked up.
