How strongly will self-driving vehicles alter the personal injury landscape?

As self-driving vehicles replace vehicles on the road, what will happen to all of the PI attorneys? I know some will shift to other areas (slip/fall, worker's compensation), but that field is saturated as well.
There will certainly still be errors and accidents, and deeper pockets behind such accidents, but the rate will drop precipitously. I imagine cameras will also be used at a greater rate on these vehicles, which will make determining the at-fault party easier.

I suspect some will shift to Jones Act ( boats on navigable rivers and offshore) cases in Federal Court

Not sure the rate will drop... there is the inevitable scenario of deciding how much effort to put into the endeavor weighed against how much money you stand to make....
Hard to predict how that might go...
On another side of this... when you buy or rent one of these vehicles, do you sign some kind of waiver or limit of Liability... That would influence the PI's approach...

There will be an uptick in business litigation as some of those hacks have to learn some new tricks. But it’s going to be a several years before the auto accidents dry up

So do I...but a someone who's life has been touched by a severe auto accident to a family member, at some point you'd have to be an a-hole to continue to drive when it becomes clear that self driving cars are tremendously safer than ones driven by apes like ourselves.
I'll be bummed as frick to be forced to stop driving myself but if it meant that we'd reduce the traffic accidents by 75%, then I think it's an easy call. Not to mention, at this point, I feel like I'm taking my fricking life in my hands every time I'm on I-10 and some a-hole passes me doing 85 looking at their crotch playing in their phone.

I don't know if we'll ever get to completely autonomous but some of the current features that we've gotten to on our way there could make a difference. People will not get off their phones. I see it everyday on I-10. The eyesight or driver's assist has probably already saved lives.

Most will, but there are some out there that know their way around. However I'm thinking that self driving cars are not going to translate too much into 18 wheel tractor trailers which is where a lot of money is located for the PI attorneys. They will find a way.......I know it's de rigeur to dog out trial attorneys , but they are something of a necessary evil.....they don't all just chase accidents on the road

People will still be hurt and killed. Hardware will malfunction, software will have bugs. AI will make decisions that, while "right," still result in damage, injuries, and death. And the companies will have deep, deep pockets, much deeper than the schmuck carrying minimum liability on his daily driver.
Gordon and the high volume grinders may fall by the wayside, but somebody will still be suing somebody else. It will probably be in the form of class actions worth hundreds of millions or billions.
