The more likely suspects are your maternal grandfather or uncles.
You folks never disappoint, I give you that.

Well, we didn't have a chimney growing up, so that part was shot to hell from jump.
I was probably 7 when the belief started to get shaky. My parents were onto me not believing so I got a certified letter in the mail from "Santa" (my dad) on official stationary telling me that he (Santa) was looking forward to Christmas and bringing me what I wanted and all that.
That was a nice touch and my parents went to a lot of trouble to make it seem real (it was a letter I had to sign for and it was in an official looking envelope stamped with "from the desk of Santa Claus" and the paper was parchment type paper and the writing was elaborate script. I know I still have it somewhere. I'll have to look for it). So that was pretty neat. I wasn't destroyed when I learned Santa wasn't real, though.

7-9 range. Can't remember what age but remember I was at the grocery store in my great grandma's town. Just me and my dad and I put the cards on the table. Told him the kids at school were starting to say santa/tooth fairy/easter bunny weren't real so I wanted to know the truth on them all so I didn't look like a moron

Maternal grandmother and I were out and a Santa came by in a sled in street parade while cold onlookers waited. Grandma said as we waited for light to change, " he's hired by Macy's". If you go into Gimbel's they have another Santa. They have them to draw customers. I can't believe people wait in the cold for this". We then crossed street, went on.
We didn't even have a tree until I was 5 or 6. I wasn't into any of it. I didn't know about any Christian ideas except from carols.

A group of friends discussed this around a round table at lunch. We were 5 or 6.

I was six when I asked my mom so many questions about Santa that she told me he wasn’t real. She told me I was so smart to find the flaws in the Santa logic but looking back I think I was just obnoxious.

If he's not real, then who's lap did I sit on at Macy's last weekend?

I don't think I ever really believed. Like I went along with it because that's what I was told, and I didn't have any reason to think differently. But it wasn't a hard held belief that devastated me when I found out. There wasn't one really hard "Aha!" moment.
